Dear Slavens Families,
I hope you’ve all had a joyful and restful summer! As we gear up for another great school year, We want to extend a warm welcome back to our returning families and a heartfelt hello to those joining our community for the first time. We are so excited to see your children’s smiling faces back in the halls very soon.
This year, we’re especially excited to launch a new math curriculum for grades K–5 called Imagine IM. This program is designed to help students develop strong foundational skills, engage in hands-on learning, and deepen their mathematical thinking. Our teachers are ready to roll it out, and we can’t wait to see the growth and excitement it brings to our classrooms.
We’re also looking forward to seeing many of you at our Popsicle Social on Thursday, August 14 from 5:00–6:00 PM. It’s a great opportunity to reconnect, meet new families, and enjoy a sweet treat before the first day of school.
As part of a district-wide shift, DPS is moving to a single two-way communication tool called Thrillshare Rooms, which families will access through the new DPS app. The goal is to create a one-stop shop for all school communication across the district—especially helpful for families with students at multiple DPS schools. Rooms will replace previous tools like Reachwell, ClassDojo, School Deets, and others.
We’re working closely with DPS to learn the new system and ensure a smooth rollout. Like many schools, our staff and teachers will need time to get familiar with Rooms and integrate it into their daily communication. We’ll continue to share updates with you and provide support as we all transition to this new tool together.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out throughout the year with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. We value your partnership and look forward to working together to support every child.
Please read below for some important back-to-school information, and thank you for being such a vital part of what makes Slavens such a special place to learn and grow.
With gratitude,
