Slavens Collaborative School Committee (CSC)

What is the CSC?

CSC stands for Collaborative School Committee. The Denver Public Schools began these committees (originally CDM) in 1991 as part of an agreement between the district and the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, for every school in the district. CSC brings together two great concepts: site-based management and shared decision making. All CSC decisions are made by consensus. The CSC's primary responsibility is to focus on the School Improvement Plan (SIP). In addition, the CSC will:

The CSC at Slavens is made up of eleven members: four parent representatives voted for two-year terms by the school's parents; four faculty representatives voted for two-year terms by the faculty; one classified employee (e.g., secretary, custodian); a community or business representative; the principal and assistant principal. Elections are held in the spring and all terms are staggered to provide continuity each year.

CSC meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, from 3:30-5:00 pm, in the library. At the beginning of each meeting, CSC provides an open forum, or opportunity for anyone in the community to speak about issues, concerns or ideas. We welcome you to join us!
